Here’s Tina and Ted. They are regular Dallas, TX people. They like to visit the park in all kinds of weather. They are not real people but they represent the odd way Dallas residents seem to radically alter the way they dress depending on the temperature.
Dallas summers are generally fairly hot. Winters are generally cool with occasional but brief bouts of cold weather. From May through September most people lean towards halter tops, t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, flip flops, or sneakers. But something interesting (and baffling) when the temperature drops a little.

Sixty degrees isn’t cold. It’s cool, but a normal person could probably get by with a long sleeve shirt and long pants.
Not people in Dallas. When the temperature drops to the Arctic level of 60 degrees they break out winter gear. It is all too common to see people in 60 – 65 degree weather looking like they are on their way to ski the mountain range surrounding Dallas. (There is no mountain range surrounding Dallas and no skiing)
But that’s not the oddest apparel you’ll see in Dallas.

I just don’t get this. The idea of wearing shorts on a cool day with a coat just breaks my brain. But this is common Dallas attire. And some people will adopt this clothing combination all winter long.
I try to avoid those people.
So if your travel plans include Dallas remember to pack appropriately. What that means is anyone’s guess.
